On your first driving lesson
On your first driving lesson, you’ll receive a handy clear plastic wallet in which to keep all your driving documents. I'll also give you a PassWithBob.com Driver Handbook crammed with useful information to help you as your driving lessons progress.
We'll discuss where you would like to be picked up for your driving lessons, I'll check your provisional licence and explain how your driving lessons will work.
While doing this, I’ll also commence your Lesson Attendance and Driving Progress Record. This will enable you to see, at a glance, the progress you are making with your driving lessons.
About your driving lessons
I'll be pleased to commence your driving lessons from home, college or place of work . Whichever is most convenient for you.
Each one of your driving lessons will be carefully structured to meet your needs and suit your ability. It doesn’t matter if you make mistakes or need many attempts to master key skills.
Neither does it matter if you are nervous about driving. It’s my job to explain things carefully and patiently encourage you throughout every lesson. When skills need explaining over again or things don’t quite go right, we will discuss solutions, systems and methods that work for you.
And I’ll ensure that your safety is maintained at all times.
Lessons comprise two hour sessions as these provide a good mix of theory and driving practice plus time needed to drive from your pick-up address to appropriate training areas.
To ensure that you receive the very best tuition, each lesson comprises 6 carefully planned steps:
| 1. | Recap | We'll begin by discussing what was achieved in the previous lesson. |
| 2. | Objective | This is where we'll set out what we’re aiming to achieve in this lesson. |
| 3. | Briefing | A quick explanation of the key skills you're going to be learning in this lesson. I’ll also demonstrate the relevant driving skill, if necessary, to help you with your practice. |
| 4. | Practice | The main part of your driving lesson. You'll be practising the relevant skill with plenty of guidance, support and encouragement from me. |
| 5. | Summary | At the end of your lesson, I’ll ask about what you learned and we'll record your progress. Did you enjoy the session? What do you think you achieved? It's important that we know exactly how it went - in your words, not mine. |
| 6. | Lesson Report | Finally we'll agree and complete a Lesson Report to ensure that your next driving lesson commences exactly where we left off. |
